Die Hard
Die Hard is officially my favorite movie, according to the bracket I filled out a few years ago. (My brother thought of it--you fill out a March-Madness-like bracket with your favorite movies and then have head-to-head matches until get to the finals.)
Here's why it's my favorite, offering you a glimpse into my psyche:
1. Bruce Willis. Is. A. Stud. Seriously...before the action starts he's getting the sexy eyes from the stewardess, he sits in the front seat of the limo and connects with Argyle, and he calls Ellis out for snorting coke at the party. Plus, he gives everyone that shifty/sexy look.
2. Hans? He's kind of a stud too. Orchestrating a $600 million heist is probably not as easy as we think and he does it all while looking good in his John Phillips suit.
3. How bad did you wince when John McClane comes crawling through the bathroom door, feet bleeding buckets?? The writers knew EXACTLY how to make us all feel like the last half hour is going to be excruitiating.
4. It's a Christmas movie. "Now I have a machine gun. Ho-ho-ho."
5. John McClane is fighting for justice and the woman he loves. Who cares at the end he's covered in blood? You hug your man when he kills a dozen terrorists for you!
6. Beethoven's Ode to Joy, used as the theme song for the terrorists, is both menacing but warm-hearted. You're almost glad for the terrorists when they break open the last seal and dance through the vault, stealing their millions.
And last, try not to think of a Die Hard quote.
Hans....Bubby!!
Come out to the coast...we'll get together...have a few laughs
Nine million terrorists in the world and I gotta kill one with feet smaller than my sister
Just a fly in the ointment, Hans. A monkey in the wrench. A pain in the a$$.
And c'mon....wait for it...."Yippe-ki-yay, Mother____!"
"Now I have a machine gun. Ho-ho-ho!"
ReplyDeleteHave you seen Bruce lately? He's gone a little overboard with the tatoos!
