School's been in session for over a week. Let's check in on what the ND students are up to, shall we? I turned to the Viewpoint section of The Observer, the campus newspaper serving ND and Saint Mary's.
Anger at South Bend police is hypocritical. A response to a very wise student who argued that South Bend police do nothing except bust student parties. Yes, police officers should be moral authorities and decide which crime--sorry, underage drinking IS a crime, and I admit that I committed that crime once upon a time--is important enough to respond to. And yes, students DO have the right to punch police officers in the face.
Despicable Scene. Anger at The Observer's film critic for not giving the cartoon Despicable Me rave reviews.
Quarter Dog price increase doesn't add up. Anger at ND food services for increasing the price of a $.25 hot dog to $.33. This student apparently analyzed the ND budget and found alternative ways to keep the "tradition" of "quarter dogs," including charging each student $.40 more per year on their meal plan, charging each resident an additional $1 in housing fees, and finally, just eating the loss of $2,400 from 30,000 hot dogs they sold last year. "Help us generous alumni, you're our only hope!"
If they're charging $.33 for a quarter dog, it better be wrapped in bacon!
